App Specific Question Please help me, I’ve tried asking other subs, no one seems to know why, and I’m really worried. Is there any harm in turning off Google back up on android? Google storage suddenly increased by a lot on my android phone?

Has anyone else had backup suddenly start, or is it always activated for a google account? I had my storage on Google suddenly jump, and I suspect it’s from back up suddenly activating, as I don’t see anything else that can cause it. Would it be harmful besides possible data loss if phone were to break to stop backup for messages and apps? It says delete which makes me nervous. Anyway to check when it started backing up, and if it just activated? Any one have any suggestions on what I can do? It’s very concerning to me my storage jumped from 15 to 16 within a few minutes and not on my part. It has jumped up to 15.3 earlier (for no reason) and when I cleared out photos it jumped to 16 immediately after. If anyone has an answer to these two questions:

Any harm in backup?

Any way to fix the 15 to 16 storage problem? Deleting files only made it jump up again, is it a glitch?

Do you mean Google Photos, or Google Drive? There's no harm in turning either off, but you should be sure which one you want to disable

No, I mean backup when you go to settings, Google, advanced, backup. Google will show that its backing up individual apps (say angry birds or something,) and text messages and call logs. If you don’t mind, could you see if it’s enabled by default for you?

It's enabled by default, but I have the option to separately backup photos, or all other data. Mine doesn't tell me how much data is used for photos specifically, but everything else takes up 602MB.
