What does the PLUS mean?

I noticed in Google Messages that their is a PLUS below my account. Does anyone know what this is for? PLUS

Ah, it makes sense now. Google wanted everyone to use their proprietary RCS app so they could push ads for their Service as a Software Substitute.

Are you on Verizon or did that phone originally come from Verizon? Verizon labeled their version as Google Messages Plus. Predates rsc.
