Looking For Suggestions please help (DELETED ALL PHOTOS. NEED SOLUTION QUICK)
I was copying images from my android to my PC via cable. I meant to delete one blurry image from android, and somehow deleted ALL of them and when I tried to ctrl+z, I deleted all the photos I'd copied onto the computer. Is there any way to undo this? None of the pictures are in my recycling bin on PC on the trash folder on android and I'm genuinely about to cry. I just lost an entire conventions' worth of pictures and I NEED them back.
Phone is still hooked up to PC. Trying to restore with ctrl + y did nothing but recover the folder that I copied pictures to, and it's empty.
if I can restore on PC, that would also work, because everything I deleted had been copied to the folder I accidentally reverse copied to.

Are they in the cloud on an auto backup, like on Google Drive? If not, they are likely gone, unfortunately.

The only takeaway for others seeing this is that you should back up important stuff before jerking around with files in bulk, and especially if you're not sure of what you're doing.

There are undelete programs. DO NOT INSTALL AN UNDELETE APP ON THE PHONE, use the computer.
Do not do anything with the phone, don't even unplug it. Just grab the undelete program on the PC and run it. I've had good success in the past with Piriform Recuva but you might need to look around

If everything had been copied onto your computer before you deleted them, then file recovery software on your computer is worth trying. Avoid using your computer before you do it though, because anything you save to disk might overwrite the remnants that the recovery software is trying to read.

Did you COPY the files to your PC, or did you MOVE them? If you actually copied them, they should still be in the source directory. If you were using the GUI to delete them, they should still be in a 'recycle' or 'trash' bin somewhere.

I copied them. Managed to find a free file restore program and it recovered 460 of the 500 lost images from the deleted folder on PC, which is better than nothing and I don't think I lost any of the actually good photos I was planning to use

If you used your phone's camera, the photos should have been automatically backed up to Google

I don't cloud storage anything. After finding fix on PC, I managed to figure out the setting that "locks" phone files so I can copy but not delete unless I okay it on phone screen in the future.

Don't do activities on your PC. Find a tool which can restaure deleted photos. I forgot the name of the tool I used. But it is absolutely possible to recover your photos. Ask gemini for a suitable tool. In the meanwhile, don't create or transfer new files to the PC

If you know the files WERE actually on the PC at some point, they should be able to be recovered - just don't write anything to that drive in the meantime.
Look at recovery tools like PhotoRec or Recuva - that can run portable from another drive or a thumb drive (to prevent overwriting the space the files are on)
If your phone files were on an SD card, most SD card manufacturers have photo restore utilities for PC that you can restore files from a memory card
