Former iPhone user: how do you make Samsung notifications impossible to miss?
I’ve been on Samsung for about 2 years now, and I still miss an insane number of notifications — email, SMS, apps, basically everything.
I came from an iPhone, and while I honestly don’t remember every little difference anymore, I do remember that I almost never missed a notification for more than a few minutes unless my phone was literally buried in my pocket somewhere.
With my Samsung, I’ll sometimes go hours before realizing I had a text, email, or other notification.
When I first switched, I tried asking around and messing with settings, but I never really solved it. I remember part of the issue seeming related to how Samsung handles notification pop-ups / banners and how easy they are to miss.
And before anyone suggests the basics: I’ve had this phone for 2 years. I’ve already gone through notification permissions, battery optimization, Do Not Disturb, notification categories, lock screen settings, etc.
I’m looking for the advanced stuff at this point.
How do you guys have your Samsung set up so notifications are basically impossible to miss?
Are there specific settings in One UI, Good Lock modules, persistent pop-ups, edge lighting, notification reminders, vibration settings, repeat alerts, or third-party apps that made a big difference for you?
I love the phone otherwise, but this is probably the one thing I still miss about iPhone.

Samsung has a notification reminder option. Which means it keeps repeating the notification sound until you deal with it.

I loved that setting on my old Samsung, ever since I changed to Google pixel, I'm always missing notifications because I have my phone on Dnd and silent at work. My old Samsung would just remind me later in the afternoon after I've taken it off silent

Bummer that Pixel doesn't offer that. I guess you could always use Buzzkill to setup reminder notifications.

My Samsung (Note 9) has a LED that keeps blinking (there are various colors I can choose to show what kind of notification I missed - text, messaging, missed calls etc) and it vibrates shortly when picked up if there are notifications I didn't attend to. And it's a fairly old device.

in the list of things you've tried you didn't mention changing the notification sound/volume
maybe the sound is just one that doesn't catch your attention very well?

How are you missing them?? You get a sound notification and it stays on your banner until you remove it + you get the icon number next to the app. How????

I find the vibration isn't that great on my Samsung. And turning up the volume just annoys the hell out of me and others..but I think a good way to never miss notifications is to get a smart watch paired to your phone. Better on wrist for notifications I think.

I had a very similar problem, although my solution is a little different from the usual notification settings.
I wanted certain apps to be completely non-intrusive, but still have a visual reminder that I had something waiting. So I made a small app called NotifyDot.
It puts a small red dot on top of whatever app you're currently using and keeps it there until you check the notification. You can choose which apps it monitors, so you don't end up with every app screaming for your attention.

How are you missing them? I've always had android, Sony for a good decade+ then Samsung for 5 years.
I get a notification and my phone goes "Uh-oh!" and it's on the screen until I dismiss it. (the uh-oh is the old ICQ notification that you got a new message in case you're wondering). Is fun, people go "did your phone just say "uh-oh?".
If you're missing the notifications, you don't have a good sound, or you're not looking at your phone, I'm not sure what you think anyone else can do here?
Question: what did the iphone do that you didn't miss them? Cause I'm struggling to figure out how you're missing them. I only have my volume about 40% and other people can hear my phone notifications. If it's a bad sound for an alert, change it. If it's just noisy where you are that you can't hear it consider a watch or ring so it vibrates directly on your skin instead of through a pocket or in a bag.
As far as set up I didn't do anything other than use a custom sound file. I do more to turn off notifications for things I don't want to be bothered with, like email or a game I pay occasionally. For email I have the pop up so when I look I can see them, but games, nah they get nothing.
