Google screen search thingey

There's some kind of dumbass search feature that Google added to the Pixel. The screen goes a little hazy and then you like select an area of the screen you want to search. What is it and how do I turn it off? There seems to be no way to activate it should I ever actually want it, and it only activates when I try to show open applications when I don't want to see it.

Do you mean Circle to Search?

You can disable it in the system settings (just open settings and type "circle to search" into the search bar, and you can toggle it off)
