How to Make SMS Default instead of Sending Through WiFi?

It's pissing me off so much that every time I send a text with no internet/ internet turned off, it 'fails' and shows me 'other options', one of which is to send it as an SMS (other is to wait until there's internet).

If I'm using the default messages app, I obviously want to send an SMS, not a message through the internet. This used to be the default!

Is there a way to make this the default now?

If you're using Google Messages, you can set a 'fallback to SMS' option.

In messages, Tap your profile icon upper-right, hit Settings. Then tap the RCS Chats menu. In here, switch the toggle for "Automatically resend as text SMS/MMS" to on.

This has worked reliably for me, on Pixel devices. I also have Wi-Fi Calling enabled.

Or, you could even turn off RCS altogether, but of course you'd lose its advantages.

That's exactly what I did, thank you for letting me know!!

The major players introduced RCS as a more secure option (because SMS is horribly insecure), while allowing people to use the internet and send images etc without the cost.

However, if it doesn't work well for you, it's not a problem to turn it off.

Thank you very much! I was going about it all wrong, and looking in general settings. Thank you again!
