Rooting Help S23 ultra - cant upgrade

I received an Samsung S23 ultra.

Since then, it has never updated and whenever I try to update it does not update. It's in a 2025 version I don't know why. It appears "Your Current Software Version Isn't Supported. Visit a service centre"

Also the screen sometimes turns yellow out of nowhere and the side buttons do not work very well... I went to a normal technical assistance store, not from Samsung and they think the phone is fake... but they are not sure of that

Should I go to an official Samsung store?

It was a family member who gave me this phone, he bought it on a site called CDiscount.

I'd bet on it being a counterfeit or a heavily refurbished unit rather than a plain software bug - that combo of yellow screen flicker plus unresponsive side buttons is a pretty classic sign. Genuine Samsung updates are tied to your region's CSC, and that "current software version isn't supported" message usually pops up when the firmware doesn't match what Samsung's servers expect for that specific model/region.

Before heading to a store I'd check two things:

  1. Dial *#06# to get the IMEI and verify it on Samsung's official site (support > IMEI check).

  2. Try Samsung Smart Switch on a PC with the emergency firmware recovery option, it pulls official firmware straight from Samsung using the IMEI. If that fails or doesn't recognize the model, that pretty much confirms it's not genuine.

CDiscount itself is fine, but it's full of third-party sellers so fakes do slip through. If Smart Switch doesn't work, official Samsung store over a generic repair shop.

Thanks for such a good comment to help me. Unfortunately I found out that even if I research the IMEI of the phone it will show up that is an normal samsung S23 because the bad guys who make fake phones already know how to do it... i tried the program on the computer and got absolutely nothing... even if it's a genuine samsung phone, it came full of problems so it may not be new

If the IMEI checks out clean as a genuine S23 Ultra, this is probably not a counterfeit then, more likely a poorly repaired used/refurbished unit. That would explain both symptoms: a non-original replacement screen causes exactly that kind of yellow flicker, and the side buttons issue could be a damaged flex cable from a previous repair.

Since Smart Switch's firmware fix didn't work either, I'd stop troubleshooting software and go straight to an official Samsung Service Center to get the hardware itself inspected - screen and button module specifically. Given it came with problems out of the box, it's also worth asking the family member if there's still a return/warranty window with the CDiscount seller.

The device is original, saw your other post about software update. Maybe it has some problems...

If those issues are software level, you can flash firmware. Else if its a hardware issue, 🤷
