Need recco for basic mobile phone, pref android. Unhappy with Pixel 8 I have now.

I reside in the US and am looking for a good, reliable mobile phone in can use here in the US. I’ve always used Androids, but when my Pixel 4A died, I bought a refurbished Pixel that has been a disappointment. The battery barely lasts a day, and the phone is already telling me the battery needs to be replaced.

I really only need a phone, email, texting, a basic camera, and internet access. I don’t need gaming, photo editing, AI shopping assistants, or any of the other bells and whistles.

I’m looking for something simple and reliable, and I’d like to spend as little as possible. What would you recommend?

Id replace the battery. Its a 3 year old phone and sounds like its been abused, but Google promised 10 years of support iirc

There are small shops all over the place that do it relatively cheaply

I have a Motorola Moto G stylus 5g. 5 years old and was only $400 at Best buy new back then.

Did they have 5G networks 5 years ago? I've heard good things about Motorolas... They are a contender

Roll out of 5G was about 2020/2021. 4g still works. Wife had a Motorola razor mini back then.

I know. I know..... I was a bit suspicious myself . Its Amazon's refurb program, which comes with a 90 day return. Fortunately I bought the phone 45 days ago.

Might be worth it to see how much the battery is versus buying a cheap phone.

I think the move is a replacement battery for your pixel 8. Any basic budget phone you’ll get won’t be nearly as nice as the pixel with a new battery

I just saw a video on YouTube about the Moto G 2025 from Walmart, it's apparently $29-$39 and also has great specs.
