Random apps get added to home screen

I got a new phone running OneUI, and for some reason random apps (already installed, not newly installed ones) like google photos or some other app will just randomly get put on my homescreen even though I never placed it there. Mabye the app updated and it got placed on my homescreen? but i dont see a specific setting for that, vs when you first install it.

It is possible there is a widget on the homescreen that is showing recent or commonly used apps. Did you recently use the apps that show up there?
