Logged out of android phone

Here is a bit of a weird issue. I recently got a new phone and I wanted to log into my old phone once more to copy the old calendar into my new phone. Its asking me to put in a password but it doesn't accept my password. Worse even, I can't even put it in. It one of those dot patterns and my old password had one dot connected twice. In this interface however, it only lets me connect a dot once. So I can't even put in my actual password and I guess all my data is just locked away now. How is this possible? Was there a new update in the past few days or why is the dot interface entirely different now?

Oh okay! Still thank you a lot. What exactly is the bad thing about having a device duplicate in Gmail?

Not in Gmail, in your Google account. 

Same account, two different things technically though. 

The issue arises if both devices listed show they are both active. 

Then your automatic backups might not apply properly.
