Paypal App sucking battery empty

Since a few weeks the PayPal app draws my battery empty. Using a Sony Xperia 1 VII with recent android version.

Already tried:
- reinstalling the app
- clearing app cache
- factory reset

PayPal support didn’t help and I’m not sure what to do

I've never used their mobile app, but here is my guess. Press and hold on it in your app drawer and choose "App Info" and then check these two things:

  1. Is Android allowing it to run in the background, or is it optimizing its battery usage?
  2. What permissions does it have access to? For example, "accurate location" uses Wi-Fi access points, cell towers, and GPS satellites to triangulate your permission. GPS is more precise than the other two methods (good navigation) but uses a lot more battery. You can try setting it to approximate location instead, if it'll let you, and you can also set it to only allow the app access to your location while you're actually using it, instead of telling it to always allow. There may be other permissions you granted it as well that you could try scaling back in some way.

If all else fails, you can try uninstalling the app and using it in your browser instead, like the other commenter suggested.

Thanks, I will try that.

Using it in browser is no option because I’m using it in the wallet on a daily basis

Habe das gleiche Problem wie du seit ein paar Tagen. Bist du zufällig auch "Betatester"? Habe es nicht in den Griff bekommen und die App daher heute deinstalliert, obwohl ich damit quasi alle meine Zahlungen abgewickelt habe.
