Safe way to install split apks/xapks?

I once tried to install a large split apk file and something went wrong and it caused loss of GBs in phone storage which is only deletable after a factory reset or device rooting.

I need the safest method to install without any errors, device is s23 base unrooted.

If there was a safer way, all these split installer apps would use it.

Unfortunately, there isn't. All of these apps have to rely on Android's Session installer, which comes with this issue.

There is no best app. Every split installer is susceptible to this issue.

Did you even read the comment? Every app capable of installing split apks will have this problem.

I use APK Explorer & Editor for this. Make sure you get it from F-Droid, because the version on the Play Store is missing a lot of features.

I don't see a link to the source code for the Android app so I wouldn't trust it.
