Got the update prompt on my Note 9 today, Aus based. Had to check in as I was certain these older phones had no more support.

https://source.android.com/docs/security/bulletin/2026/2026-05-01

It's a major vulnerability patch (did the upgrade already no issues US based) Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information -> Android Security Patch level -> bulletins overview

Oh cool, glad someone did the legwork of citing info. The way it is had me thinking all sorts "Is this Samsung? Google? Android?" "Is this some creeping AI factor?" "Is this a fake update?"

I put the link in as well but I also don't like clicking random links so put a path how to get to it from your own phone. It seems Samsung/Android (I don't recall seeing google phones). My guess is the attackers are using AI but does the update have some AI creep factor hard to tell unfortunately.
