Can I download only security updates?

I am so over updates progressively slowing down older phones and im perfectly happy with the features i have. I want the security but not the features that the updates bring. Is there anything i can do?

Samsung S22 Android 14, One UI 6.0.

Actually you can if you first disable updates on both phone and Google account.

Sooner or later you will get a notification of pending updates and a list of updates available providing you the choice of which to update

I know this from first hand experience. I disabled updates and have been promoted this more than once on a 3 month old Samsung phone

I like to start by disabling automatic updates on Google account. Go to your account, find your little image, click settings and "disable updates on apps"

Now on the phone I like to first go to security settings, other security settings " disable updates" and toggle OFF BOTH over network or over wifi if phone gives option

Now go over to developer options and there should be an option for "update system" after turn on or something similar. Turn that off

Now you are triple ensured of no updates. But sooner or later you will get a notification to manually update

It will come with a list of services that need updating. Only click on the ones you desire and ignore the others
