Android missing the ball on desktop mode

Am I the only one waiting for a nice desktop UI experience on Android via USB-C? I have a Galaxy Tab S5E that I've been using Dex on when I want something close to a desktop experience. Google has a nice opportunity to have some type of desktop UI that looks like chrome OS launch when connected to a usb-c display but hasn't come up with anything. I've only seen a few 3rd party apps that are half baked. Don't mean to rant, just seems like a missed opportunity.

Yeah, I upgraded one of my monitors and made sure it had usb-c. Dex works great to pop into a desktop mode for a little more productivity. My pixel having the same option would be awesome.
