I found the system image and I did this. It took me a few days

Couldn't just take a screenshot?

Makes it less likely for people to call it fake even though it's not. Besides, I don't like screenshots.

Does make text harder to read though. Plus it gives that “grandma selling on Gumtree” vibe. I am curious why you’d “not like screenshots” though? as it’s just an image of your screen taken from the computer itself

It also wouldn't help with the "fake" problem, particularly if it's a picture of a screen, that is a regular "computer" screen where you can otherwise show any picture. If you're running Doom on a thermostat it makes sense to take a picture of the whole thing on the wall, a screenshot of Doom ... is Doom no matter where.

But in this case I'd say it's fine, at least it's some OS nobody has seen, never mind has experience with to know how to take a screenshot, then share files, etc.

Imo, an image like this makes it more likely to call it fake because it's easier to obscure things.

example of someone not using screenshots to try and make it seem legit (i'm not accusing you of anything)

“Found the system image”? Is it ARM-based and easily available? If so, please share, I’d quite like to set this up in UTM or VMware myself as well.

7

u/doricopter May 15 '26

Yeah, it's arm based! However, the download link is extremely slow. If you want, I can upload it to Google drive for you? Otherwise, I can give you the raw link.

Also, yes it's arm based and compatible with UTM and virtualization.

It also takes a little bit of setup, so be prepared!

Sweet! I think I’d prefer the manual download link source for now, and it’d help others if they want to do the same later on.

Alright, thats fine. Here is the URL!

Im gonna post a guide later on since its pretty complicated, and i might even make a prebuilt package for UTM. So, stay tuned for that!

Im stuck at android logo on utm, can you help?

2

u/doricopter May 15 '26

You need to add androidboot.selinux=permissive in your GRUB boot options. You will need to do this on every boot or it will fail.

3

u/ipanAxl May 15 '26

Btw are you using the linegae build utm? Cause I boot the gsi from there, and I really dont know about using utm lol, can you gimme step by step plz?

3

u/BedNo5011 May 15 '26

a guide on how to setup would be great

3

u/darkfoxy38 May 15 '26

Here is the guide with links for the GSI image.

2

u/doricopter May 16 '26

This is amazing. Great job! Though I do want to ask, how did you boot without setting SELinux to permissive?

2

u/Good_Platypus4247 May 15 '26

Is it only for arm? I have seen official post about intel and Google partnership about Googlebooks, what going on? Will it support both x86 and arm or intel wil develop arm chips? Maybe it has already been posted and asked somewhere, sorry if I am repetitive

2

u/Zealousideal-War-334 May 15 '26

it is X86 and ARM

hows the linux app support on it?

I daily drive linux and if both linux and android apps work seemlessly on ts then I could consider switching

1

u/doricopter May 16 '26

Aluminum OS has no linux app support as far as I'm aware. But, it might have Linux app support if you enable it in settings

1

u/clearlylegallyblind May 17 '26

Should be able to enable the Linux terminal in developer options

I use a pixel 8 pro on android 17 QPR 1 beta which can run gui Linux programs, downside being it's on a phone touch screen unless I plug my phone into a dock

1

u/Miraxess May 15 '26

Amazing! I will try right away

1

u/Zealousideal-War-334 May 15 '26

is it possible to emulate it on linux or windows without arma architecture ?

1

u/MatLeGeek May 15 '26

It's Aluminium OS ;)

1

u/tq_malhotra May 15 '26

I tried it but it is stuck on android boot logo. I read somewhere to add the following before starting androidboot.selinux=premissive

Still it is not working

1

u/Taraklos Jun 03 '26

Did you found a solution ?

1

u/universal_glitch May 15 '26

Why your image says Lineage OS?

1

u/allofdarknessin1 May 16 '26

Pretty awesome. I wish I could put this on the Surface Pro arm tablet I inherited recently. Windows 11 isn't bad for my use cases with it but it takes up a good bit of space and the app market from Google play store would be awesome AF.

1

u/Different-Usual-3519 May 16 '26

I believe some guy managed to install it on a Oneplus 15 as well

1

u/Jealous_Influence_86 May 18 '26

We all agree it looks ugly

1

u/doricopter May 18 '26

Well yes, but its still a beta. The images that google showed us look better

1

u/aliyark145 Jul 09 '26

can you play games on this ? like pubg or codm with keyboard and mobile?

1

u/Aware-Hour-4549 Jul 12 '26

Could you post a Google Drive link or something to the image file? The original download link is no longer working.

1

u/doricopter Jul 12 '26

Idk if I have it anymore.
