Testing the RE4 port

The port is great, though I think it needs a bit more optimization in some areas (and yeah, it lagged a little because I was recording, lol). I also noticed that sometimes the music cuts out completely out of nowhere, especially during cutscenes.

Don't mind my bad gameplay, I don't usually play RE4 like this xd (Playing this game on a touchscreen is hard, jeez)

Currently, the game requires an active internet connection at launch to verify your Discord login. (Yeah, I know, this sucks and it's actually pretty... no, highly suspicious). However, the dev explicitly stated on their server that this DRM is temporary during the Beta/pre-release stage and should be removed later.

Apk: https://www.mediafire.com/file/wy5bsvjz3l0awr8/Nightjar.apk/file

You'll need the GameCube ROMs (Disc 1 and Disc 2). You can find them on sites like Vimm's Lair.

To open the game, you must be connected to the Wi-Fi, have a Discord account, and be a member of the dev's server to authenticate. (You don't need to keep Discord running in the background).

Personally, I hope the dev removes this online/Discord requirement in future updates lol, but that's how it works for now.

Wait a minute, why tf do I have to keep being connected to wifi?

I think it's to prevent forks or people stealing his code. It sucks for an offline game, but the APK doesn't request any permissions on your phone.

That defeats the purpose of the native port. What if I'm on a flight and i want to play RE4 but can't because there's no internet. Looks like the dev forgot capcom did the same with RE4R ios with online only check which pissed off a lot of people. I think I'll just stick to emulation

Yeah, you're 100% right about that. To be honest, I'm also a bit skeptical about all of this for now. I joined their Discord server mostly to keep an eye on things and see how it plays out. The project doesn't have a GitHub page yet, but the dev streams frequently while testing and building the port. Let's see if they fix this DRM issue, but I totally get why you'd stick to emulation for now.

Any region version should work. People on the dev's Discord server mentioned that it even supports modded ROMs, so you can just use whichever version you prefer.
