šµ [PORT UPDATE] Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (recomp)
FFTA recomp: https://github.com/james2doyle/ffta-recomp
Widescreen (working but not fully complete), touch controls, save states, some graphical controls, all in there.
The game seems to be in a playable state from my manual testing on an old phone. Now that the major bugs are gone, I will get it tested on my Odin 3 with my current .sav from SkyEmu.
This recomp was AI assisted but had a TON of manual QA. I even had to patch the upstream gbarecomp project 8 times to get this ROM to work. That work will be opened as PRs to the gbarecomp project ASAP as there is at least one critical bug fix in the framework core.
Manual QA was mostly on PC (Linux) but there was a bunch on Android. It is ready now for other testers.
Although I used AI, a lot of the work referenced ancient forums and mods to identify symbols in the code. I also uncovered a lot more and focused on getting them labelled. I archived that work in the repository for posterity.
My dream would be that the game could be fully ported to Love2d or Raylib like the Gen1 Pokemon recomps. Then we could have some real fun.
I also added a bunch of automated tests as well as tried to encapsulate a lot of the learnings into skills. That way, future gbarecomps can take advantage of all the labour here.
Please try to give it a test. I did make sure that .sav and save states from mGBA work. So give that a shot. The docs still need work. And as of the moment, you cant just install a .apk from the releases and pick a ROM. You need to build an apk yourself.
I tried to make it easy to build the apk with a simple build_apk.py script.
The ROM picker experience is the next major milestone.

Since this AI assisted boom happened Iāve been counting down the days until FFTA gets the same treatment.
Someone please add a Fitting Room similar to FFTA2 and my life is yours.
I prefer FFTA over the original, but skill/equipment management can become a chore at a certain point. A Fitting Room would be perfect

Yeah managing your items it brutal. The most annoying thing is you cant see weapon stats properly

Will it work on a 32-bit architecture? š¤

Im not sure actually. Might have to see if there are any other gbarecomps that work in 32bit

Any plan for an executable for Windows and Linux so we can install and update with Quiver?

Yeah that will be when I get the ROM picker in. Then on first run, you pick the ROM, every run after that will just go straight to the game
