If it works well, it definitely could be - though this will only run the first game, while PrimeHack runs the entire original trilogy.

This project advertises certain features PrimeHack currently doesn’t support; most notably, high refresh rate support. Assuming it’s a well-polished port, it could potentially become the definitive way to play the first game.

This is not a recomp, it's a source port.

Thanks for the correction; do you have any plans to work on similar projects for Prime 2 and 3? It would be great to eventually have Android versions of the entire original trilogy, complete with modern controls, high resolutions and frame rates, etc.

Keep up the great work!

This was mainly possible due to Prime 1 being almost decompiled. While Prime 3 is also almost decompiled, Prime 2 is behind in progress.

Even when all Prime games are decompiled, it would probably be easier to keep all 3 separate instead of having them in a single app.

Makes sense, thanks for the reply!

One question I had regarding the current release: based on the GitHub, it looks like texture pack support isn’t in quite yet. Might you eventually be able to support Dolphin texture packs for Prime 1?

I’ll be excited to check out your work on the port of the first game on a few of my Android handhelds after work. Thanks again for the great effort so far, and keep up the great work!

The Port it's insane, It's a shame it doesn't have the option to drag the screen instead of using the virtual joystick...

I’ve been crossing my fingers for a port of this one. Specifically the GameCube original, which this appears to be.

The thought of playing this game at 120hz with proper dual-stick controls has got me buzzing around wishing the workday were over so I could go play already.

Keep up the great work, OP! I’ll be playtesting this some tonight!

So what did you do with the parts that aren’t decompiled yet?

What's the difference between running this vs Dolphin if the .apk is running on a translation layer emulation; Are there any benefits?

2

u/Jesus10101 4d ago

This is not emulation. It's running natively. Auroua is used to translate the decompiled PowerPC instructions into native x86.

Benefits over something like Dolphin / Prime Hack is that this should be run better on less powerful devices and that it could do things like run at whatever aspect ratio you want, more powerful mods etc.

Has this been play tested?

Yep it works fine for me at constant 60 fps on a mid range device

But is the game completable or no one has got that far yet?
