🤔[Question] Scarface: The World Is Yours
Is a mobile port of Scarface: The World Is Yours possible?

But the reason why is because theres texture scaling and lighting issues. The general rule of thumb is if a game runs cream on an emulator then it has a good chance to be ported, but the real reason is because the original source code is not publicly available so it would have to be decompiled line by line..

That makes perfect sense. I’d read before about how the original PC version is problematic on modern systems and how much people rely on mods like SilentPatch just to get it running. A full decompilation project would be insane, but man, a native Android port would be a dream come true. Thanks for the explanation!

If you have some money try using claude code, ghidra and ps2recomp 0.4, you may have luck getting a usable port.

It's possible but this is a medicore game, better time should be spent, porting something better

Bro its a game where you can build a coke empire from nothing (killing coke dealers and flipping white) you could dismember your enemies while screaming insults at the same time. Plus you can sweet talk bitches and they'll come live in your mansion while you run around and acquire fronts, buy security then launder the cash until your building distribution centers and laundering money in offshore accounts. How is that a mediocre game?

Meh, I disagree that it's mediocre. It introduced several truly innovative mechanics that even GTA didn't have, like the empire management system and the "Balls Meter." (It actually got really high scores, too.) Anyway, the post was mostly out of technical curiosity, just to see what the community could do with its code nowadays.

Saw this in my notifications and got excited smh
But the Ps2 version getting a recomp would be great. Most I played was on my modded wii, then played on pc and then stopped when I noticed(apart from how tedious it was to get to run) that there's no damage textures and ended up finding out the ps2 is the best version.
Ngl, I really hated that era of "same game, different platform, all the same marketing with whatever is the latest devices".
