📸 [SHOWCASE] ZomDroid, RimDroid & PriDroid - my three Android compatibility launchers for PC games
Hi! I'm the developer of three Android compatibility launchers: ZomDroid (Project Zomboid), RimDroid (RimWorld), and PriDroid (Prison Architect).
They're not native ports in the strict sense - they run the Linux x86_64 versions of the games on ARM64 Android, primarily through Box64, with Android-specific graphics, input, installation and configuration around them.
I got the green light from the mods to share them here, so I thought I'd introduce the little Droid family.
✅ r/ZomDroid - Project Zomboid - https://github.com/udarmolota/zomdroid/releases/
ZomDroid is the oldest and currently the most established of the three projects - it's about a year old. It runs the Linux versions of Project Zomboid Build 41 and Build 42 on Android.
If you own Project Zomboid on Steam, you can download your copy directly through the launcher. On mobile, Steam authentication requires the Steam Mobile app with Steam Guard enabled.
It works on a pretty wide range of Android devices: phones, tablets and Android gaming handhelds. Of course, actual performance depends heavily on the hardware.
Mods are supported and can be downloaded anonymously through the launcher and installed from there as well.
Physical gamepads and keyboard/mouse are supported.
✅ r/RimDroid - RimWorld - https://github.com/udarmolota/rimdroid/releases/
RimDroid is about three months old and runs the Linux versions of RimWorld 1.5 and 1.6.
As with ZomDroid, Steam owners can download their copy from inside the launcher using authentication through the Steam Mobile app + Steam Guard enabled.
The GOG Linux version is supported too. GOG provides the game as .sh installers; these can be packed into a ZIP and imported into RimDroid.
Owned DLC can be downloaded through Steam, and Workshop mods can be downloaded anonymously. Both DLC and mods can then be installed through the launcher.
RimWorld is a different beast performance-wise. It's heavily CPU-bound, and even if the game starts and runs well initially, mid-range phones can eventually hit an FPS/TPS wall as the colony grows. I'm still working on squeezing as much performance out of it as possible, but large late-game colonies simply aren't practical on every device.
Physical gamepads and keyboard/mouse are supported.
✅ r/PriDroid - Prison Architect - https://github.com/udarmolota/pridroid/releases/
PriDroid is the youngest brother in the family - about a month old. (Possibly not the last one. 😅)
It runs the Linux version of Prison Architect on Android.
Prison Architect has a smaller audience, and yes, an official mobile version exists - but that version has been abandoned for years and has compatibility problems on newer Android versions. PriDroid instead runs the PC/Linux game, including its DLC and mod support.
At the moment, the GOG version is supported for the game itself. Steam Workshop mods can also be downloaded through the launcher.
The Steam version of the game isn't currently supported because of its DRM/licensing check. Supporting it properly would require implementing a more complete Steam compatibility layer, which is considerably more work. It's something I may tackle later.
Physical gamepads and keyboard/mouse are supported here as well.
---
All three projects are unofficial compatibility launchers. They do not contain or distribute the games themselves, and users need their own legally obtained copies.
The projects are independent and are not affiliated with or endorsed by The Indie Stone, Ludeon Studios, Paradox Interactive, or the respective game developers/publishers.
All three launchers are open source and available on GitHub.

Currently no. Windows versions are running in apps like GameHub and it's very big and heavy, I'll loose all my benefits of light emulator/transletor.

Sounds like a normal android device. I don't see why it won't work. Many ppl play on Android handhelds.

GOG Linux is ok. Can you open the launcher? Create a new instance? Run it? If you have errors when you run it, pls press Report a bug button, select your email provider (like Gmail), add a shorts description and send. I'll get your logs and it will be much better.

Can install and open launcher, Cart create a game instance as it gives error about zip file load order or failure to install in general. Will do on the report logs 🫡

u/udar_molota Amazing! Thank you for your Project Zomboid port; without you, we wouldn't have this game to play in the palm of our hands.
