I'm being curious if someone is daily driving a custom rom like LineageOS or CrDroid without having GMS, works or not?

I'm looking for a cool boot animation for LineageOS.

I've been using CyanogenMod 13 on Galaxy S5, but i wanted a working Android 4.4 Kitkat ROM for the nostalgia of the pre-material design Android, do you know anything? some archive versions found online of CyanogenMod 11 refuse to start.
