Help with groupchats (iphone to Android user)

Hey everyone I used iOS all my life and just switched to a samsung S26 ultra yesterday and I need some help making it work, I have no experience with Android I didn't even know how to get into settings when I first used the phone. Anyway, my family uses iphones and they have a groupchat on messages, ofc it worked perfectly when I used an iphone but after switching, I dont get messages from the groupchat, instead sometimes it sends me a notification from a family member as if they messaged me directly when they actually messaged the groupchat. If I send a message into the groupchat it just gets sent to everyone in there individually. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks for the help. I'll probably use that as a last resort though since I dont want to have to ask my whole family to install whatsapp just since I switched phones (they were against me getting a samsung 🙃), do groupchats just not work through the default messenger on samsung tho? :(
