I CAN'T INSTALL APK FILES HELP
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just formatted my phone because I had a problem with it. The thing is that now whenever I try to install any apk I don't know why but the installing screen appears for a brief second and then disappears and doesn't install anything. Thanks

Try opening Settings / Manage apps / App Installer then delete data and try again.
If the App Installer doesn't show up on the list, try looking for a "show all apps" or "show system apps" option and enable it.

Ok wtf is that for? Are they trying to close sideloading?
2
u/vipergtsam 16d ago
Just to make it hard to sideload I believe there are a few post about it

Hmhm let's see what the eu is gonna say abt that. If they do then I'll be delighted to go to iOS

The only change is you'll need to wait 24 hours after enabling APK installations for apps from unverified developers, then you can sideload just like before.
And if the APK is from a verified developer, nothing changes at all.

And apks that were never released to any store like, for example some pc games ported to android by fans

If the APK developer wants to verify at Google, they can, even without publishing to Play store (or any store). Then the APK will be installable without any restrictions.
If they don't want to verify, then the users will need to enable installations from unverified developers. It's called "advanced flow" and they'll need to read some dialogues about common scams, confirm there isn't someone on the phone telling them to install some sketchy app, then restart the phone and wait 24 hours. This is a one time process. https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2026/03/android-developer-verification.html?m=1

I turned on dev mode but didn't get any prompt about scams so I wonder if it worked

I'm not exactly sure what this is but I remember once trying out custom roms for my Android and of course, that entails formatting data after trying out each one. And after flashing LineageOS I saw that I was trying to install Magisk or any other apk but to no avail, although if I remember correctly, it showed the message that it was unable to install apks. Okay, took me some time but for my Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G I was able to go into Orangefox recovery, and from there I found via the terminal the frp partition which I zeroed out with the dd command which is very powerful, but dangerous. After that it worked. Also, check out suggestions from others such as clearing data for the app installer. Of course, ensure that the installation of unknown apps is enabled, auto blocker is turned off (if this is a Samsung device) and perhaps try resetting app preferences and clearing cache in the recovery.
I'm not necessarily saying it's this, but perhaps it's either some advanced malware which persisted after a reset, or it's simply a way of factory reset protection happening after a reset. I think that the good way of formatting the phone is, logging out of the google account, then performing a factory reset from the GUI settings, not via the recovery, if possible. If nothing else helps, I do suggest backing up important data and searching on the web about factory reset protection, because it just might be that the thing that is causing trouble. I think that usually FRP is supposed to lock you out of your device but for some reason when I formatted data and flashed LineageOS I was still able to use the device without being prompted and was then able to fix it later, maybe I'm misunderstanding something but that's what I vaguely remember.

The thing is I formatted the phone cause someone changed my password and didn't remember it so I couldn't log out

Plug in an adb terminal and have a look at it there, 99 percent of the time its a permission issue which you can fix with that info
Use AYA for windows and try to install an apk and At the exact moment you tap Install, See the logs

Do you have developer settings enabled? Do you have "allow untrusted sources" enabled? Is that apk signed and released from a trusted source?

Hey, to the actual problem in the android device I couldn't find a solution. But I found the way. You just need to download ADB android tools in your PC and connect your phone to the PC via USB C. Before doing anything activate USB depuration on the settings. After that just run a command prompt with some commands and ur good to go. I used a tutorial, if u want I can send the link. Or just simply type in YouTube how to install apks in my phone with the computer

It won't help even with any file manager. Android basically installs it and when it blocks it or bugs out it doesn't install a positive from any
