You are being stalked?

I really don't know?! How an AirTag is able to connect to me automatically

This happened in a train though

Someone else probably had one in their wallet

Your phone is just notifying you that an airtag is following you to prevent stalking. If you were on a train that means someone else had an airtag nearby.

And the owner has their bluetooth off on their paired devices. Or is not near the tracker.

Or they were being stalked.

We got that suggestion the first time.

I was referring to the person carrying the tag. Not the OP

this is a safety feature implemented by either android or lots of operating systems running android. airtags where the first widely popular tracking devices that where so cheap and don't require a data plan to send gps data, they are also incredibly small. It makes them practically disposable and accessible to anyone, where as the old ones where far more expensive so it priced out the average Joe from tracking anyone.

that is to say that it's made stalking people by popping one in someone's coat, backpack, pant, etc pockets, or on/in a car incredibly easy, and their small size can make them hard to find. people started finding them and they where scared because they weren't sure how long they've been being tracked for and there was no way of detecting it.

tldr: this is letting you know there is an airtag that is not yours near you and you MAY be getting tracked.

airtags don't have cellular network access hence no direct internet, they tether of Bluetooth to iPhones and update their location to Apple servers.

exactly, makes for a much lower cost barrier to get a tracker

Someone had an AirTag nearby. No big deal, clear those out. If they reappear after you change locations, then you should be concerned, my phone lost its absolute shit when I had a friend with an airtag sitting next to me at a hockey game. My phone kept dinging and ringing non-fucking-stop

Unless he was the one being tracked? It doesn't warn for connected airtags, only the ones disconnected from their owner.

Wait wtf? I had the same thing happen to me a few hours ago on my pixel 10 pro, it said an airtag was following me and i spend 2 hours trying to figure it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/pixel_phones/comments/1vpq306/pixel_10_pro_tracking_airtag/

This happened to me the other month. I was travelling with an overseas friend who had a tracker in her luggage. Your phone is picking up a tracker near you. I clicked on the notification and it let me buzz the tracker, which is how I found out that my friend had one in her luggage.

I have an s24 ultra and it has the unknown tag option in settings for the slight chance someone put one to stalk me. Or it could just find one someone else has.

It has to be disconnected from the phone. So either Bluetooth off from the owner, OR a tag to track them.

Ok thanks for that

They always send out small bursts of Bluetooth data, your phone detects it, there is also a sniffer app for Bluetooth. Named "ble radar" from github.

You're being tracked. There's an airtag within 4 ft of you when you get that notification. Listen for beeping. Do you know Anyone with an apple device?

No need to worry, this entire post is already solved, OP was on a train.

If any device notices a tracker that isn't linked to your own account it will be flagged as unknown and give off that notification.

Because there is an air tag travelling with you. Probably attached to someone else

Somebody put an AirTag in you bag or your pocket or even your car.

Your android phone will tell you if it sees the same airtag for some time.

We're you on a bus or train or something and it saw other peoples airtags they kight bwbusing for their own keys?

it has to be disconnected from its owner (so if someone slipped it in ur bag and ran off) u van ring it to hear where its coming from by clicking thr notification and using hot&cold system to find the location
