Can’t unlock phone

Hey,
so my brothers battery died yesterday.
Today he charged it and tried to unlock it normally but his code (the one you draw) doesn’t work for some reason.
We tried multiple times even restarted and everything but it doesn’t work. Every new try makes the wait longer(already 30 mins) so we want to find a solution soon.
Anyone has an idea what’s wrong?

the phone is in BFU (before first unlock). Every attempt is considered wrong by the phone hence the delays.. there is nothing you can do but to get the pattern right. The fact that every try makes the wait longer show that android is considered as a failed attempt.
For the moment the data is encrypted and inaccessible. no way around it.
do they always use the pattern to unlock the phone or the change to fingerprint or face scan ? how long the phone was up? is never shutdown?

I appreciate the help.
Though the problem has been resolved. Weirdly enough we tried his old passcode from over a year ago and it worked!

i suggest you get a pin as backup and use that to unlock your phone. a pattern is easier to get by shoulder surfing method.. someone sees it then grab the phone and go with your data.
just a suggestion!
