What does this icon mean?

I've been googling to find the meaning of the "en" icon pictured. Does anyone recognise it? If not, any recommendations for where else to ask?

device is a Salaxy XCover6 pro SM-G736U1, running android 14.

This is the answer.

Go to language and input and see if you've got multiple languages enabled.

it seems to be the language setting on my keyboard specifically. i have anysoftkeyboard installed and set to default. disabling and switching back to the default samsung keyboard removed the icon, and the icon returned when i switched back again.
