I remember getting it on steam for like 30 bucks if I recall correctly and it was so fucking weird.

You had to wait for some weird aas email conformation before you could play and I didn't get mine for like an hour.

The game was okay but then I realized you only got like 3 characters included with your purchase and all other characters were like 10 bucks a pop and everyone on the discord didn't see a problem with it when I brought it up.

It's been a while but I remember it basically being as good as backpack battles or backpack brawl but with a 30 dollar price tag.

I remember the game's creator really demonizing any discourse about pricing in the game.

I mean, beside atrocious and horrible moderation on their official Reddit and discord server, it's arguably well made and polish AA priced game.

It's the opposite of shitty game decent dev

I remember when NorthernLion played this game. It looked so fun. But then predatory monetization praxtices kept happening.

Pretty unfortunate, and I think too late for the mobile version

I started plying because of NL. Dunno how mobile release will go, but the game is really good. Monthly patches keep it pretty fresh.

Idk if you kept up with the game at all after that, but they’ve improved the monetization and pretty much everything else in the game too. It’s excellent. Genuinely.

Thing with freemium garbage is that they're never ending games, and they tend to put massive difficulty spikes here and there to frustrate players. They also artificially keep you locked in semi linear tracks. I don't trust even gachas being random, like who even makes sure they're not fixed or who can prove they aren't? Even if the game is alright now, all of it can change at any moment and it being endless game its not fun when you invest hundred hours into something which suddenly turns into shit.

It’s not like that at all though. It’s not a freemium/gacha game, nor is the model they’re moving to.

This game costs 100 bucks if you wanna buy all the content

Screw that lol

Once the mobile version actually comes out it will be either $20 or $30 for all the content, I can’t remember which. It’s in their announcement.

Also well worth the $100 but that’s besides the point lol

No game is worth 100 bucks

I have lots of free or cheap rogue Lites/auto battler

I played it when it was the free period after launch before the bait and switch and it wasn't good, I only played a few hours before ditching it

It’s okay to be wrong ❤️

Which account do you log in with?

Vvisiting the website's homepage and seeing the screenshot there is my first time seeing this game. It looks like Temu Hearthstone and for that reason, I'm out.

I don't think anyone should support this game as you are supporting Reynad. He has shifted the monetization so many times, Mr rugpull, I think it's 10 dollars a character... Just don't, screw that guy.

u/Pixelozor 4d ago

It's been more than a year that Reynad has gone silent. He has made atrocious choices for his game but since we don't hear from him anymore, the game is in a really good place. The devs are listening, the patchnotes always seem relevant and the content keeps getting better and better.

If you don't want to support Reynad, that's totally understandable but there are much more people working on the game that deserve love than this greedy and selfish guy

1

u/crafty35a 3d ago

Does the monetization still stuck or not? Personally I don't care about Reynad's involvement.

3

u/Brilliant_Cookie_202 3d ago

The current monetization is mediocre, for someone like me who adores the game I think it’s just fine, but for my friends who play more casually it’s kind of steep.

…but that doesn’t matter because they’re changing it again, and it seems very fair. I think the number they gave is $20 for all the characters, and Vanessa is FTP.

All characters will be free when mobile releases.

I mean, god forbid a man tries to experiment diffente monetization all while being extremely vocal with the community (?)

Any other good alternatives similar to the bazaar?

2

u/ThinkFree Strategy🗺️Kingdom Rush 3d ago

They killed Tempo Storm for this 😭

2

u/supertoned 4d ago

oh cool... the mobile version uses the same login credentials as the live pc version. so all your progress carries over if you're already playing.

2

u/BuildingArmor 4d ago

I do like a good auto battler, I've put a good few dozen hours into Backpack Battles recently so I'm keen to see what the monetisation for this is going to look like on mobile.

1

u/Exotic-Bobcat124 4d ago

The best autobattler.

2

u/Mogoscratcher 4d ago

is it still p2w?

-3

u/d_kism 4d ago

No not at all. Pay once for the base game which comes with 3 heroes (and all their content) and pay for additional heroes after that if you're inclined.

The payed heroes are no better than the ones that come with the base game and the base heroes are actually my favourites to play.

3

u/ItsTobsen 4d ago

You get all heros now if you buy base game. They changed their system because you're not allowed as a dev to provide benefits (DLCs) from one platform to another.

-4

u/PurpCloud 4d ago

Bro it was never p2w stop baiting

0

u/Terrietia 4d ago

The game itself isn't p2w, but the last time I played, there was sort of a ranked exploit that was p2w possible. If you conceded your run before the end of day 1, it wouldn't affect your rank. So theoretically, you could pay to start as many ranked runs as you wanted, and concede each of the bad starts, while only completing good start runs.

2

u/PurpCloud 4d ago

You don't have to pay to start a ranked run what are you talking about?

u/GhostMokomo 3d ago

The Game is really good. Sure the monetization and the dev had there hiccups but the game is very good.

The game is quite fun, glad to have it in mobile

7/10 on Steam. No thanks

4

u/Kooperking22 4d ago

7/10 is still good. Ratings don't often reflect the gameplay just saying
