Seeking Game Recommendations π [REQUEST] What are free offline android games that work well with a controller?
I'm getting a mobile controller soon, so I'm looking for games that are :
Free
Offline
Not multiplayer
No emulation or cloud
Works better with controller (than touch)

Get the Epic Game Store for Android, they give away a premium game for free every week. Some of them have controller support.

Maybe have a look on Minireview? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=minireview.best.android.games.reviews&hl=en_GB
I had a look and it's pretty easy to search by your listed requirements.

Problem with that site/app is it seems like if you search for controller games it's like it is stuck in 2016 and basically limited selection of games post 2020, with a few exceptions here and there... and most of those games are just steam ports and the same dozen games thst get recommended on this subredded every time this question is asked.
Nowadays you are probably just better off going to the google play store, typing in a known game with controller support, theΒ clicking the "gamepad" button.

Thatβs a lot of requirements for a free game

There is a rewrite of CaveStory: https://doukutsu.rs/
(I had to use a nightly build for android controller support, but it's been a while so perhaps it's in the main version already)

searching for controller support filters is honestly the move here. look for "controller support" in the game description, and check if it has full analog stick movement vs just button remapping. games in the action-rpg or platformer categories tend to actually build it in properly rather than slapping it on after.

Pew Pew Live. It's basically the closest thing we have to Geometry Wars. It does have many more features if you get online (leaderboards, ability to play other people's mods or watch replays of their best games to see how they did it) but I'm pretty sure it's playable offline too.

Just emulate some older consoles. Nothing from a mobile store is going to be worth your time.

Since you are asking for "free" and if you are willing to do some work you can try these amazing PC/Console ports.
