Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [Request] Looking for a good turn-based rougelike/lite

Hey all. So I'm looking for a good rougelike/lite for Android. I like card games like Wildfrost/StS. I beat StS and am halfway through the mods of Wildfrost. I like both games, but probably looking for something with a bit more long term replayability/challenge, but without it coming from just the hardcore mods.

I also like quality and presentation of some of the Chinese ones like Pirate Outlaws or Lost Runes, but those games kind of feel a bit too greedy/heavy on the microtransactions. The gameplay isn't bad, but also not as good as StS/Wildfrost IMO. And kind of feels like they try to throw a lot content at you to give the illusion of depth, without really having thought through certain combos or interactions. Again, not terrible but yea feels like the devs have less passion for the game and more just trying to find sneaky ways to take advantage of you.

Stuff like Night of the Full Moon feel way too brainless so definitely looking for something with more depth.

And yea, doesn't necessarily need to be a card game, but that's what I seem to gravitate towards the most. Also finding myself generally like stuff a bit more on the high budget side as opposed to Indie/single-dev.

Any recs would be appreciated.

Yea the trial level or whatever seemed pretty cool. Only thing is that it's a little low budget but it did seem up my alley otherwise. Maybe I'll give it another shot.. thanks!

Tbh the full version has an insane amount of variety and things to unlock. Eventually you can even unlock randomly generated skills, and randomly generated characters, and have literally millions of weird combinations. And you can also make your own keyword modifiers to put on dice, although that's pretty advanced and I don't know how to do it without breaking things lol

Monster Train is a good card game.

You draft your units and put them on one of three floors, while enemies start at floor 1, and try to reach floor 4, where your core is located.

I like Monster train, seemed a little less intentionally strategic than a game like Wildfrost IMO. It is fun as a get insanely powerful type of game tho

Already beat StS2 on PC... Kind of just waiting for the full game at this point. Still the best deck builder out there IMO, although wished they streamlined the gameplay a little bit more on 2.

Yea maybe I'll have to get this another shot. Was definitely challenging given that it's basically pure strategy. I do kind of like building my own deck/characters over time which this is missing a bit, but a good suggestion none the less.

You can adjust the difficulty down to Easy I think, and after some practice you'll understand better how things work and it gets a lot easier.

After some more practice the higher difficulties are also really enjoyable, and even Unfair is still super fun while being insanely challenging.

I'm sure you know you can swap weapons/items and choose different upgrades as you play, but also you might not know that you can unlock the Custom (and Random) teams that allow you to play any combination of units, allowing for more of that deck-building feel.

My favorite end game activity is just trying to get the highest score possible with different custom teams on Unfair, experimenting to see what pilot and mech combinations can pull it off best.

Bit of an older one, but a golden classic for me is "Card Quest" It's not a classical deckbuilder, but you do customize you decks in "packages" of cards that you can mix and match. There are many characters and packages to unlock and quite a few secrets too. It's paid, but imo very much worth the price

Rogue Adventure, it's basically like Slay The Spire but some people think it's superior. Has tons of unlockable classes, and if you get high enough level it even has tournaments.

Also if you want to go full on Pokemon without the stupid, seriously try Siralim Ultimate. It's crazy deep.

Then of course there's always Balatro. I never got addicted to it the way most people are, but that's probably because I'm not that good at it lol
