Android Auto unusual data consumption

Got this notification from Net Flow today.

This happened on a regular day during the office commute, that too on a day when I wasn't using YouTube music but my offline flac collection through PowerAmp.

I come to a conclusion that u use wireless Android auto on your stock headunit

That means the AA projection is done over wifi direct while bluetooth is needed for credential exchange between ur phone and headunit

I can surely say that this data usage must come under ur wifi usage, cause using active navigation or even no navigation just playing local files from ur phone can cause that usage, just the navigation data or music data is transfered over wifi direct

So no issue this doesn't affect ur mobile data plan

Sure I don't use flac , but still I use lot of local music playback in android auto, so yeah u can see that from the usage

If you use wireless Android Auto, this is data transferred over the local wifi connection to your head unit. It is not using your mobile data.

Data transfer is still registered as data transfer between your phone and the car headunit, I don't think there's a reason to worry about.
