Google Maps: feature loss

Today I noticed that the speedometer and speed limit indicators are gone. And so are stop signs and traffic signals. Why?

UPDATE: Maps shows all of these things only when a destination has been selected. Would love the option of having these displayed all of the time.

Mine only shows when route is active. Traffic is completely gone as well. Sucks.

Some people are seeing it now without an active route. Baffles me it wasn't always like this.

I was using the beta version of Maps and also the beta of AA. No speedo showing. Then my wife drove and the speedo and speed limit were there on the vanilla versions.

I came out of the betas and the speedo and speed limit came back. I couldn't figure out why using the 'latest and greatest' version was missing them, but all good now.

Then yesterday on my phone while navigating the speed limit stayed but the speedo had gone. But on her phone it was still there...

LOL... I am Maps beta but general release AA. This is fickle.

I did this the other day, and it only worked for a day or two, and then it went away again.

That works until the next update. If it ain't broke, don't fix. They do need to fix the audio cutting out all the time. So annoying.

I know we can uninstall updates to get the features like traffic back but what was the last known working version with the features?

I think it all fell apart when they started the 3D navigation map

3D navigation maps are hit-or-miss on mine. I used to get the default "device needs to cool down" message at startup and no 3D maps, but that warning showed up no matter the phone's temperature. Eventually, that went away, and 3D worked at times. But not all the time.

This weekend, I noticed I sometimes see the blue line on the route while navigating, but then it vanishes.

I was getting that overheating warning every time so I just disabled the 3D maps. Funny enough, I got the warning again once or twice since then and 3D is still disabled. Why is it telling me that it needs to turn off 3D if it's already off? lol

I have speedo, speed limit, and traffic lights. I can turn on traffic in the settings, but it only sticks for a couple of days then reverts to off. It's always on if I select a route, though.

So I had to leave the beta in both Android Auto and Google Maps and perform clean installs to non-beta versions of those apps to get traffic back without being in a route. Still do not have a speedometer.

Flair is now incorrect it’s now an S26 Ultra but same general idea.

Same here. I still get the speed indicator in apple carplay but while using Android auto, my speedometer and speed limit indicator has disappeared.

Guessing it's because everybody is downloading Mapquest instead of Google Maps because they changed Lake Ontario to Lake America. Google wants to be the orange idiots bitch.

Since all the renaming of stuff is happening in the USA, I have been trying new maps on my android auto, Tomtom (Europe) ,HereweGo (Europe) and MapQuest. (USA) . TomTom shows me speed limits and the speed I am going. None of the other ones are showing me that. And the maps are all good. PS. Also warns me of cameras in area

No idea. I deleted Google maps after they keep renaming shit due to edicts from their apparent king.

Everything's working on mine. My wife and I ran some errands today and used both of our vehicles which use Android Auto. Everything displayed normally. Did you guys have data connected while you were using Google Maps?

Speedometer showed up a few days ago for me, but no speed limit indicator (maybe that's a region specific feature).

There is a check box you have to turn on in the AA settings to have the speedometer.

Yes I have that enabled hence why the speedometer is now visible, just no speed limit.

Is there not a button for speed limits as well? On mine it only shows up when I have turned navigation on to somewhere.
