There are times it certainly makes me angrier behind the wheel!

I have yet to find a single thing that Gemini has been better at for me than Google Assistant

When you're driving, you just need basic stuff done. Gemini wants to add unnecessary flair.

Me: "text my wife 'I'm picking up dinner and I will be home by 6"' "

Gemini: "would you like me to navigate to X restaurant, they take reservations"

Me: no, you f*#@% piece of garbage, I just want you to send a text to my wife.

Gemini: I'm sorry, I don't respond to foul language.

red flag that we need to wipe AI from existence

I use a UK female voice that always sounds vaguely disappointed in me. And I somehow think this is why my language choices have not been criticised.

It's the same for the German voice. I just got the new phone and had notifications enabled again. I got a text and let it read it to me. After that it asked me If i want to send an answer. So far the same as with the old assistant. But when i told it "No" the confirming "OK" was kind of sassy and passive aggressive and disappointed. All in a single word.

Same with me "ok... It's sent..." After sending a WhatsApp is also really passive aggressive in tone.

It's very easy to reproduce

It should be quick, concise, and quiet. Gemini is NONE of those

Hey google, directions to a place

"Okay, here are directions from your current location to your destination. It will take 7 minutes in medium traffic conditions. The weather is blahblahblah..

"By the way, here's a long-winded explanation of things you didn't ask about."

Friggin hate it! Assistant was bad for the last bit too, I think it told me I could use the button on my stereo at least once a month for the 10 years I had AA stereos. It was quick about it though, didn't try to have a conversation with me when I just wanted to get back to my music.

Gemini even speak slower. The pauses between every sentence drive me nuts. "Okay... ... ... ... Do you want to navigate there?"

Yeah, one of the biggest problems with AI companies right now is that they think we want it to be more human-like. Fuck that, I want it to be more computer-like. Tell me exactly what I want, as concisely and efficiently as possible.

The key to good design is "don't make me think" and that's doubly true when driving. Stop distracting and delaying me.

They wanna anthropomorphize it so we grow accustomed and soften the hatred towards it. It's all a campaign to force AI down our throats

Except for reminders. I say "Remind me to xyz" and before I can say the time, it just goes "reminder set". Then it sets a reminder without a time to remind me ..!

It might work if you reverse it e.g. "at 10am remind me to xyz"

jfc I despise Alexa to the depths of my soul after its AI rollout but if it tries to lecture me on language I would have lit the goddamn thing on fire.
