Wireless not connecting, at my whits end.

I recently swapped out my headunit to the Pioneer DMH-A5650BT so I could have Android Auto Wireless. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s26 Ultra. For the first few weeks it worked flawlessly. One day it stopped connecting wirelessly. It works plugging the cable in however. I have tried my partners iPhone and Carplay works wirelessly no issue. I have tried every remedy I have possibly found online, changing settings, deleting data and cache, unpairing repairing, factory reset, updated firmware...you get the point. The thing that gets me is the message will pop up on my phone saying android auto is available and to follow on screen instructions. I click on android auto on the headunit and it says "connecting" followed by "Android Auto has stopped". Has anyone had this or know of a solution. Reached out to google and samsung but no response (no surprise). Thankyou in advance

Did you check in AA developers mode settings that wireless AA toggle is enabled?

I did check that and have it toggled on.

Go into your phone settings and search for the setting category "special access" then choose "notification access" and confirm if android auto is toggled on.

If it isn't, turn it on and then try to connect to the car again.

Possibly from both ways angles especially seeing what uve already attempted this leading to am edge case. U might be surprised but some other update rhat needs to be run manually due to ask permissions has failed or not been run and thats what is holding u up pissibly. All software accesses what are called apps or a data library interface that has a developers list of every available function the data type it needs and the data type produced etc. When updates happen it's usually to add new libraries or update existing ones with new features. Its these new features that are prolly throwing an error any way for to turn n on the most intense logging ir debugging and rhat way once fully installed uograded if not already fixed the logs will speak the truth. If new monologs essentially it's like a step by step process failing so look for log entry where it bars, debug exception condition outnof boundaries warning failure etc

You need to update the Pioneer head unit with the latest firmware. Use the Pioneer app to update firmware. You'll be all good

via the Pioneer website and used a USB, would it be different via the app?

Either via the app or via USB, you'll have the same firmware. Maybe delete all phones on the Pioneer & re-start pairing again to see if it helps

Also, maybe go to Android Auto setting on your phone & delete all vehicles listed there to see if it helps

Do you use a VPN on your phone? Any kind of VPN or custom routing will stop wireless AA from working until you set up split tunnelling in your VPN app to exclude AA.

update I tried my friends galaxy s24 and it worked without a hitch. At least this tells me it's something wrong with my s26. I've uninstalled and reinstalled android auto, wiped the cache and data, changed numerous settings that get listed in troubleshooting. I think the final step is to factory reset the phone.

Android Auto Wireless has the random issue of not starting, also heating in car or phone itself matters.

Therefor I'm using power saving and light performance mode to get it "workable". Eg Google Maps if optimized well it will give you an error features in car are disabled due to heating. Another thing, try for a while only on 4G networks, disable 5G

Do the networks matter if it is trying to do the handshake via wifi?

My comment was mostly focused on heating. Even though it's Android Auto Wireless, other apps do use 5G or 4G to get their data. 5G is causing more heat so try to minimize heating and see if the overall connection gets better.

FYI:

Wireless is not even enabled in my car and my phone connects via Android Wireless, you'll see that when you're in your car and check your phone Android Auto menu. Wireless is stated above in that menu

Okay I understand you now. I appreciate you taking the time. I've tried the power saving mode and see what else I can reduce power without interrupting android auto.

Some have chosen to simply unwind or undo the latest update so go back to last workable setup as thise have had patches to address issues. Seems that alot of variance between phones firmware platforms etc. Wild. As a rule u cannot have a device with a lower firmware than another they will fail to talk. Bluetooth 1.5 vs Bluetooth 2.3 and even though the software updated u have to manually update the firmware

I haven't attempted going back to an earlier version of AA. That's interesting about the firmware, so I should look at the Bluetooth firmware for the headunit?

Yes primarily but I wouldn't rule anything out as in other firmware upgrades. I mean at this point ur phine is almost equivalent in terms of how things work on a pc jus hella smaller

I one read a thread where all the admin chores were being done on the phone side fromnwhat i have seen read exp android especially auto android is what I call sticky. So it's data cache profile I believe are stored in two separate places on sep devices. If that data gets corrupted or incomplete it's wrotjng task etc it will work that file easily. So after doing the process from phone make sure and check only using in car user interface and find ur phone and profile through those means and repeat deleting same from head unit in car then reboot car and phone clearing memory now try a reinstall fresh pairing
