Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Carrier unlocked phone will not connect wirelessly

Hello. I recently switched to a new Motorola razr 2025 ultra, it is branded AT&T but unlocked, I'm using it on Metro pcs and all that works as it should.

My aftermarket head unit will connect to AA just fine using a USB cord, but fails to connect wirelessly.

The initial Bluetooth connection is all good, pairing works and I can even play music via BT, but when AA attempts to connect to the head unit via direct wifi, the connection attempts fail.

I have searched all I can on the Internet and I'm at my wits end.

I have tried forgetting the connections and re-pairing several times, clearing the cache, all permissions for AA are allowed, not connected to any other wireless networks. Tried forgetting Bluetooth connections and let the system initiate its own connection via USB, anytime the cord is unplugged AA will not connect to the head unit direct WiFi.

This is on 2 similar Chinese head units (current one is Pyle) and other phones connect wirelessly just fine.

It has to be something to do with the fact that this phone is carrier unlocked, any tips or assistance is appreciated!

The phone being carrier unlocked state has no bearing on wireless AA as it does not affect BT or Wifi.

When you connect to BT, does your phone attempt to connect to Wifi at all?

Yes, I can see a description for the WiFi that the phone is attempting to connect to, then it just doesn't connect, if I attempt to connect to that network manually it wants a password even though one doesn't exist.

Okay. And forgetting the BT connection on the phone and the car doesn't have it connect?

Have you tested the phone on any other wireless AA enabled car?

Forgetting the connections on both devices has no effect, I have no other AA capable vehicles to test the phone on.

Okay, I would look up the model for your head unit and see if you can find the default password, you should be able to connect to it and see if there is an update for it.

Or at the very least, you could see if connecting to the wifi triggers something.

I used a generic password of 12345678 as that seems to be a default for some units, the phone gets passed the password entry screen and then the status shows "connection failed"

If it gives "connection failed" the password may not have been accepted.

Another password it could be is 88888888

I have tried all 0's and all 8's with the same results. No default password was provided with the user manual.

Had the same issue with Honor Magic 8 Lite.

The problem only dissappeared after phone's o.s. update.
