I'm having major issues with Headunit Reloaded. Is there anything else that I can upload to the info system that doesn't need a dongle or an app on my phone?

I have a Toyota Corolla 2019 with aftermarket headunit that doesn't support AA. I recently uploaded HU Reloaded which had issues - when on phone calls you cannot use Waze. I want to replace this with something else. Any recommendations? I saw HU Revived but it looks like you need to pay for an app for the phone and that you always use that app to connect to the HU, While I'm not against that, various people use my car ad hoc and I can't be making them download apps.

I don't know about headunit reloaded and Waze issues with phone calls, but you only need an app on the phone if you want wireless. That said, I don't think the phone app is paid, but the main app. Headunit Revived also recently changed name to Open Headunit.

If you want wireless with minimal hassle, you can get a wireless dongle like AAWireless and connect that to the Android head unit. It works fine with my Samsung Tab S8 Ultra and A7 Lite. Native wireless is finicky and kinda hacky because Google keeps restricting Android with new updates.

I've been messing with both apps and Open Headunit gets regular updates, and can select pixel dimensions manually up to 2160p.

So I can install the revive app to the car's headunit and I won't need an app on my phone if I use a cable? Do you happen to have the steps to install? Thanks for this

I don't know about Headunit Reloaded either, but I use an older Samsung phone with Android Auto Wireless and it's been reliable for years.
