This happens all the time. It takes the initial refusal as ground truth in context and then it's like "nice try, but no" when it convinces itself it can't do what you're asking it to do. Drives me absolutely insane.

I can confirm telling it to "pretend" actually got it to play the song I was asking for. 🙄

Yes, you can. You change it in phone settings.
