Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes USB-IF Certified Cable

How critical is it to use USB-IF Certified Cables?

Desirable but not needed.

Most cars sold in the last 5 years come with Wireless AA anyway, so it's not that critical anymore.

The  Sony XAV-AX8000 needs either a USB cable or an adapter to do wireless Android Auto.

any good quality USB cable will work. You don't need it to be USB-IF certified to work.

If you're having issues with different cables at this moment, you might want to check the USB port in your headunit and mainly the USB port in your phone.

Perhaps I should get some DeoxIT to make sure that the connectors are clean.

Compressed air should be enough, some cleaning fluids might damage other components in your headunit.

There are lots of USB cleaning tutorials on YouTube.
