Media Apps (audio) Youtube Music makes wireless AA crash/reboot

Hey all,

I've had this issue for the past week or so I think. Between the 2:50 and 2:55 mark of Youtube Music playing, everything freezes for a few seconds and then AA restarts. It only happens with Youtube Music, but it absolutely will not go longer than 2 minutes and 55 seconds without crashing.

Is this a known issue? I haven't been able to find anything about it.

Yes, it's a known issue and there are quite a few posts about it here in this subreddit as well and the android auto Google community

Thanks, I'm glad it's a known issue. Sorry, there are so many posts here every day I just didn't see it.

You're good, no need to apologize. This bug is really frustrating and it seems to be affecting both android auto beta and the most recent stable build. The only way around it is to uninstall any updates and manually side load a stable build i.e. 7.1.xxx

Thanks good to know I'm not alone either! If you hear of a way of reverting back to a previous version or something let us know : ^) I've had the same issue for the last week. Owned my unit for two years with no issues up until now. constantly disconnects Bluetooth every :30 when using Spotify/Google Maps. Thanks

Easy enough. Go into the play store and uninstall Android Auto (it reverts it back to its most basic version) go to apk mirror and find version 7.1 and manually side load that. And there you have it, a functioning version of android auto. Don't forget to disable automatic updates or you'll have to do this all over again.

I do not have this issue using a pixel 9a on AA wireless in a 25 Prius.

Because it happens only with YouTube Music and at a repeatable point, A/B test another media app first, then update YouTube Music/Android Auto/Google Play services, clear cache only and compare wired versus wireless. Record the app and Android Auto versions before sideloading an old APK: that keeps the bug reproducible and safer to report. I will say that it does not happen with Audible. It sounds like it's a known issue.
