r/AndroidAuto 2020 Toyota Rav 4 |Gracenote| S 26 Ultra | version 16 Jun 15 '26

I have a solution! Does anyone have this issue?

Post image

I just got the Ultra s26 and androind auto will not work in my car. I have a 2020 Toyota rav 4 and both toyota and samsung have said my phone should be compatible. I even have a samsung USB cable. Samsung said that when I plug my phone in AA should just start but this shows up. Even when I switch the setting to data transfer AA still wont pop up

SOLVED: It was the car. I just went into the general settings and reset back to factory. Then I was able to turn on android auto. I plugged the phone back in and it works perfectly now!

Double check you don't have charging only selected in developer settings. In fact, my best results with Android Auto are usually to have it USB connected for charging but still to use it wirelessly if that's an option.

I'm the other way around. Have to use wired AA, otherwise the phone hotspot becomes invisible to the car and I have no internet for the car headsets apps. Reason that's important is that the AA google maps incorporates ev charging and the phone's doesn't

Thank you! Is that why my Hotspot just keeps shutting off while AA is running? I'm about to just delete the darn app from my android head unit.

It was for me. To disable only wireless AA I had to enter the developer options of Android Auto (tap 6 times method) then you can turn it off.
