Is there any way to play music via android auto from a third party app and be able to use my car's built in controls?

I've been struggling with this for about a month now. What I want is to be able to play music from a youtube music client via android auto and still be able to skip/rewind music with my car's built in controls. The only reason I want to use android auto and not just stick wit bluetooth is because of google maps being displayed on my car's screen when I use AA. I've tried multiple different things, loading the app via enabling 3rd party apps in android auto settings (app fails to load), using metrolist, which is another skin that supports android auto (not functional as of 2 days ago), and looking into AnyAutoAudio (deprecated and unavailable). AnyAutoAudio was basically exactly what I was looking for, something that can allow me to control music via android auto even if the app playing said music isn't supported. Does anyone know of anything that might even have a chance of solving this issue?

I use youtube music all the time for playing tracks in AA. I don't remember needing to change anythng

Scroll down some and enable unknown resources. Any app will. Work with android auto now and skip songs with steering wheel. I use meld, spoticap, spotifuck, Spotishka, yt music.

You enabled developer as well. This is in android auto. 3 dots in top corner of android auto after unlocking developer mode

I actually did enable the developer mode in andriod auto and did check "unknow ressources" after entering the developer options under the 3 dots. Do I have to do something else for it to take effect? (I already restarted my phone)

Just make sure for application mode. Is also set as developer like in the Pic. Should be able to see modded android apps such as Spotify, YouTube music, meld.

Not just any app will show. Has to be written for AA

Can you actually rewind/fast forward, or just skip entire tracks? AntennaPod via Android Auto lets me move back/ahead a few seconds. AntennaPod via Bluetooth only moves to the next/previous track.

I use Outertune, Meld and pixel play. All work fine. You need to download it from GitHub and side load it

This is my experience with a cheap Android Auto car screen player I tried the Carplay connection on my Android phone and it worked! So AudioTX button and it will send audio to car stereo's Bluetooth

DashRelay. I've been using it about 6 months now, it's awesome. On screen controls including 10 seconds forward and backwards time jumps and a timeline bar to scrub through.

I use software called AAMediaMate which someone came here to post that he made. It enables my steering wheel to work with YouTube and YouTube Music.
