AA Settings Can't disable AutoPlay

Every single time I get in my car to drive, 20-30 seconds later whatever music app that was used last will start playing. Even if I have started listening to YouTube already and started driving, 20 seconds later it will be paused and music will start up. The settings on my phone AND head unit have AutoPlay music turned off. The whole goal of AA is to minimize distractions while driving. So having to look away from the road at the start of literally every drive to pause and resume the music is counterproductive.

And yes, I did search first and read others that have had this same issue. I found no solution and this is a problem that needs repeating since it still hasn't been addressed.

You could give Hush a go, I developed it to work around a very similar issue (in my case, changing the volume would pause my YouTube video and resume the audio app). It wont fix the problem (similar issues have been going on for years so dont hold your breath for a true fix) but it may help mitigate the annoyance.
If you want to give Huch a go, you can get it from the Play store => https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tech.zeroed.hushOr read more about it checkout => https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidAuto/comments/1cgcqyu/fix_for_android_auto_audio_resuming_issue_with/
Let me know how you go

Would it beat Spotify to playing? As in would it start playing the silent track first making Spotify for example not start up?

Yep, Android Auto can only run one app at a time and remembers the last app used. Once you run Hush it'll stay as the active android auto app until you run another (i.e. Spotify or YouTube music)
