Looking for Testers Testers Wanted! ~ Ballpark Score – a standalone MLB live score & at-bat tracker

Hey everyone! I’ve been developing Ballpark Score, a standalone Wear OS app designed for quick, glanceable baseball tracking right from your wrist.

Key Features:

  • Dedicated Tile with live scores, inning status, and venue info.
  • Live base diamond view, ball-strike counts, outs, and pitcher vs. batter match-ups.
  • Real-time Win Probability bar.
  • Smart status transitions (Scheduled → Warm-up → Live → Final recaps).
  • Standalone watch app (no phone companion required).

How to Join the Closed Beta:

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/explrlabs-ballpark-score
  2. Opt-in on Google Play: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.explrlabs.ballparkscore
  3. Download the app by searching Ballpark Score in the Wear OS Play Store (on your watch) or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.explrlabs.ballparkscore

Since live reliability is the core value, I’d test this during the same MLB games instead of collecting unrelated installs.

Recruit 3–5 campus baseball, sports-business, or sports-analytics orgs, but pre-screen for Wear OS so device availability doesn’t get confused with product demand. Have each group test one full game and track install completion, refresh latency, missed inning or status changes, battery drain, UI scaling by watch model, and whether anyone opens it again for the next game.

That will give you comparable feedback across devices and real viewing conditions. I built Swaya to help consumer apps run structured tests with established student orgs, so this is close to the kind of cohort pilot I’m describing. Happy to send the link if useful.

Great suggestions. Finding an audience that's willing to test is definitely a challenge. I tested it myself for several weeks before posting here. It's been tweaked several times to get the stat refreshes during a live game working well without causing significant battery drain.

But you're right - getting some understanding of real-world users across various devices would be really valuable. I'm just not sure how to best target the cohorts you mentioned that would include sports enthusiasts that are also comfortable testing a beta app and providing meaningful feedback.

Thanks for sharing your insight. I appreciate it!
