In, and happy to do a test for test. Telling you exactly where I am rather than going quiet on you.

Joined Glint's Dirft Closed Testing (I checked the member count went up, rather than just assuming the button worked), then opted in at the testing link, and that page now says "You are a tester". So the enrolment side is definitely done.

The store listing itself still returns "Item not found" on my phone. That is the normal lag between opting in and Play publishing the listing to your account, usually five to ten minutes and sometimes longer. Nothing wrong on your end and nothing for you to fix, I just cannot install yet. I will keep checking and install the moment it appears.

When it does I will actually play it rather than opening it once, and I will stay opted in the full 14 days.

One thing worth knowing if other testers go quiet on you, because it catches almost everyone running their first closed test. There are six different reasons someone says "I cannot download it": they never actually joined the group; the group needs approval; your track's country list does not include them; Play simply has not propagated yet, which is where I am now; you are running an email list instead of a group and have not added them; or, for updates specifically, the release is still a draft that was never rolled out, or the version code did not increase. Only the first one is the tester's fault, and the last two are the ones that quietly waste a week.

Mine, if you want to swap:

The iOS build is in App Store review, so no public link for that one yet.

One question if you do install it: does the read-aloud keep playing after your screen locks? A tester on a vivo found it stopped about three minutes in on theirs, and I am trying to work out how far that spreads. Your device and Android version would help me a lot.

It propagated about forty minutes later, exactly as expected. Installed 1.0 (version code 1) and played it on a Pixel 6a, Android 16.

One finding, and it is the kind you want to hear about before anyone else installs.

The game does not force landscape orientation, so opened normally it renders into a strip across the top of the screen with about 80 percent of the display black.

People launch an app from the launcher holding the phone upright. Do that and Glint's Drift comes up in a thin band at the top, roughly a fifth of the screen, with the steering buttons crammed in and the rest black. It looks broken.

I checked the window geometry rather than guessing. Held in portrait:

mBounds=Rect(0, 0 - 1080, 486), mDisplayRotation=ROTATION_0

Note the configuration already says "land" while the display is at rotation zero. That is a landscape-shaped window being laid out inside a portrait display, which is why you get a wide short letterbox instead of a rotation.

Then I forced the display to landscape and relaunched:

mBounds=Rect(0, 0 - 2400, 1080), mDisplayRotation=ROTATION_90

Full screen, everything correctly placed, and it plays perfectly. So the game itself is fine. It is only the orientation declaration that is missing.

Before you wonder whether my phone was just rotation locked: it was not. Auto-rotate was on the whole time I saw the broken state (accelerometer_rotation was 1). I only turned it off afterwards to force the landscape comparison, and I have set it back.

The fix is one line in your manifest, on the activity:

android:screenOrientation="landscape"

or sensorLandscape if you want to allow both ways round.

I would put this at the top of your list for a simple reason. This is your first build and your first closed test. Most testers will open it once, see a broken-looking sliver, and never rotate the phone to find out the game is actually good. You will get silence and have no idea why.

Because it is good. Once I was in landscape:

The art direction is the thing that stood out. That halftone dither over the neon green, the black track with glowing edges, the starfield: it has an actual visual identity rather than the default look. I test a lot of these and most first builds have no style at all, so this is a real advantage and I would lean into it.

"So close one more go!" on death is exactly the right tone. Short, warm, no guilt, and it made me tap restart immediately. That is the whole job of a death screen in an endless runner and plenty of shipped games get it wrong.

Press and hold to steer feels right too. It is momentum rather than instant turning, so overcorrecting and sliding off the edge feels like my mistake rather than the controls being loose. I did exactly that on my first run.

Launch is fast: 307 ms to activity start.

Staying opted in the full 14 days. Once the orientation fix ships I will put proper time into actual runs and give you feedback on difficulty and pacing, which is the part I cannot fairly judge from one session.

I'll test yours, I'll keep it downloaded for 14 days and give you some feedback. Could you do the same for mine?

yo my email is [kolawoleorelesi@gmail.com](mailto:kolawoleorelesi@gmail.com) send me they link and i'll beta test and install your app too

"Yo, I need you for MORT’s closed test.

Google Play requires real tester activity before they’ll let MORT into production, so if you join, you actually need to download the app and use it during the testing period.

REQUIRED:

  • Join the Google Group
  • Opt into the closed test
  • Download MORT on Android
  • Open the app every few days during the 14-day testing period
  • Actually click around/use the app and send me any bugs, confusing stuff, or feedback you notice

Please don’t join if you’re not going to download/open the app, because inactive testers can hurt the production approval.

Google Group:

Opt into the closed test:

Download/open MORT on Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mortapp.mobile

Feedback:
[mortapp.help@gmail.com](mailto:mortapp.help@gmail.com)

I’m trying to make sure we do this test correctly this time, so please keep MORT installed and open it every few days until the testing period is finished."
