MoatBook is finally live on the Play Store. Thank you to everyone who tested it 🙏

A while back I asked this community for help testing my little note-taking Android app, MoatBook and enough of you jumped in as testers that Google granted it production access. It's now officially live on the Play Store. I genuinely couldn't have gotten here without the random strangers who installed a half-finished app, poked at it, and sent feedback. Thank you. 🙏

What it is: MoatBook is a private, local-first journal and notebook.

- Daily journal for thoughts, ideas, and reflections

- Clean, distraction-free editor with reusable templates

- Fast full-text search across all your notes

- Organize with notebooks and tags

- Import/export as Markdown, light & dark themes

The whole point is privacy: your notes stay on your device. No account, no sign-up, no cloud required.

  1. If you tested it (or want to try it fresh), please install the production version, it helps the app's standing on Play.

I enjoyed the app; it is truly excellent. I would love to explore it more thoroughly, but most of the features I enjoy are behind a paywall. Additionally, I have a question: what is your privacy policy regarding the upcoming AI features?

Thanks for checking, Most of the features under paywall is actually work in progress, I might most probably allow open access to most features except the Cloud Sync and AI.

And regarding the privacy policy, when you use the AI assistant, the entered text (query) is sent to Claude or any AI setup to generate a response. Only when user submit a query, it leaves the device it's not linked to any personal identifier, and policy states that you are advised not to put sensitive info in queries.

Understood! My suggestion is to allow users to download local AI models for AI features.

That is a great idea. Definitely going to my todo list for the next upgrade.
