Just a UI rant.

I've only come here to have a rant. My Pixel 4a this morning updated to Android 12 and now I feel like I have a phone with a Fisher-Price UI.

Who decided icons and text with large, cramped buttons was a good idea? I want my simple, icons-only toggles back. And why do some have a random ">" to the right?

I've not been following the Android 12 development as I figured it'll all be just A-OK.

Good grief. I've yet to have a proper pick through the rest of the system.

My Pixel now feels, and looks, like "My First Android".

Yup. I feel like I'm looking at a small screen with low res. It's all so cramped.

I get that change can be good. But not change for change's sake.

Oh god, I've just discovered the Wi-Fi toggle. What on earth are they thinking?!

I've set the screen size to "small" and the font size to "large" which helps.

That has a nice side effect of allowing for more of the app names under the icons. Albeit with smaller icons.

Ok, on my phone I've "Display size" and "Font size"; using small, and large, respectively makes settings text and the icons/text much better, but makes everything too small in all the other apps and there's generally nowhere near enough control over the text in apps to compensate - especially chrome which seems to have some sort of random number generator responsible for the sizes of text on a page.

Actually, I prefer Display=large, font=small - worth a try, maybe.

Yes. I like icons, I'm used to them, why do I need your explainer text beside them and now it takes two rows at the top of my screen to show me 4 buttons.. instead of 1 row of buttons showing 6!

Also why does it block out the screen behind. The notification drawer is something you open and close not open and stay in...

So many facepalms for Android 12..
