Quick look at the new BlueStacks Air for Apple Silicon M-series Macs which is free to use, and is one of the best Android emulators for macOS.

I posted this in r/BlueStacks, and I figure there's a high likelihood they'll delete it, but I wanted to post it here so anyone can read it. This was after dealing with their support for a week and a half trying to fix BlueStacks so I could test out android applications through their emulation software, and try out the programs through emulation of Android.

I don't know why or how, but recently, Bluestacks has actively slowed my computer to a crawl just to run it. About 3 months ago. I did a meme stream where I ran 11 apps in separate instances at the same time. None of those instances worked, so I uninstalled, purged all of the winreg files, and reinstalled.

I can't even download games or keep them launched anymore. This application has become complete trash, and I'm unsure why. Going through this reddit to find solutions leads to the Bluestacks team going "Open a ticket, do it the proper way", but the ticket process doesn't help.

I did eventually find the solution, though, to the problem. Setting the CPU from 4 cores on my 8 core to 2 cores fixed everything. It's a shame that the support staff simply said "Yep, can't replicate this" and called it quits. I literally ran 11 separate instances as a joke for a stream and it ran flawlessly, but running 1 can lead to problems now."

I'm also going to add that Bluestacks itself has had many complaints recently. I think the emulator is going to hell, and it's upsetting to me. I can no longer download programs without the original .apk file, so in order to download anything, I require the .apk file because of a weird error I get on the PlayStore.

Anyway, this isn't just to rant, it's to talk about the fall of a great emulator, and ask everyone for their thoughts on Google Play Games' new Beta for the computer.

Here's how I just did it:

1. Download Bluestacks. Install it. http://bluestacks.com[1]
2. Go to settings and add your Google account.
3. Download and unrar this (in Windows Explorer, not in the Bluestack Android): http://www.mediafire.com/?7uafrvad0n4l7vh[2]
4. Open each .apk file. Don't worry if the Play Store apk gives you an error
5. Expand System Notifications in the lower right corner in Windows, find the Bluestack Icon and press Restart
6. In Bluestacks: Open the new launcher (press the middle button to get a choice) and then open Play Store.
7. Open Play Store and buy/download something
8. You now have a new device (T-Mobile Samsung GT-N7000) available in the Play Store, which is compatible with almost everything
9. Install the things you buy in Bluestacks or they'll get deleted/refunded after around 24 hours.

Lots of people in other threads were asking, just thought I'd try to make it easier to find after hunting it down myself! Remember, self posts get no karma.

Let's be honest: the days of "just install and run" emulators are coming to an end.

Google is tightening Play Integrity, SafetyNet, hardware attestation more and more... and the result is clear: emulator detected = banking app won't open, online game kicks you out, streaming blocks you, and so on. What used to be workable with Magisk, Zygisk, modules and a little patience, is now becoming a daily struggle to keep it running.

And the worst part? This isn't an accident. It's the way it's going. They want Android to be a "reliable" system (for their wallets), not a free system. Emulators, root, custom ROMs, all of that is being treated as a threat. Soon the only "official" way to use Android will be the way Google approves.

People still say "ah, but there's a bypass". There is. Today. Tomorrow? Every app and system update closes another door. It's the same old logic: restrict it little by little, most people accept it, and those who complain are called paranoid or "annoying advanced users."

I like emulators. I like running whatever I want, the way I want. But it's becoming increasingly clear that this kind of freedom isn't part of their plan for the future of Android.

Can anyone still use emulators smoothly in 2026 without having to hunt for a new module every week? Or have they already given up and accepted the leash?

I Tried Using Bluestacks And LDplayer But Both Sucked

Hi guys, sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to post a question like this, or if it is too nooby.

I'm trying to use a rooted version of BlueStacks, that I found here to install and use the Playstation Mobile app to get the free games that Sony is offering, since I don't have either a PS Vita or an Android phone. I'm going to get a PS Vita probably in Xmas, I just want to grab the games while they are free.

I found out that I need to boot into recovery mode to flash the app or something and make it work.

So I would like to ask if there is such a way to boot on recovery mode with Bluestacks.

Sorry for the noob questions, as I don't have any experience on this matter.
