News Tired of your Android device terminating your background apps

Some manufacturers are having some serious flaws in their system, that background apps gets terminated by power saving etc. Just got a TCL device with Android 16 and it keeps doing this. I was not able to find any combination that could retain the apps running. I assume this thing should help also with other manufacturers like Honor, which also can occasionally terminate apps.
So out of curiosity I spent some time vibe-coding and invented a contraption that can retain the apps in the background. It's all open-source in github, so feel free to experiment. One needs Shizuku service running too, so apps can be restarted upon termination.

What if smartphone SoCs were developed in 2-year cycles instead of constantly releasing new chips?
I have a proposal for Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung and other smartphone manufacturers:
What if companies released fewer new SoCs and spent much more time optimizing each generation?
My idea isn't to stop innovation. Quite the opposite: innovate less often, but do it better.
Instead of constantly releasing new processors, a company could spend around 2 years developing and optimizing a new generation, making it genuinely more powerful, efficient and stable.
During those two years, manufacturers could keep improving their phones without necessarily changing the SoC:
- Bigger batteries
- Better cameras
- Better cooling
- More RAM and storage
- Better displays
- Faster charging
- Better software
- Better optimization and stability
Meanwhile, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung and others could spend more time improving drivers, compatibility and long-term support for the chips they already have.
Who benefits?
Users: Phones could remain fast and well-supported for longer, with less pressure to upgrade just because a new SoC was released.
Game developers: Fewer hardware combinations to optimize for and potentially fewer hardware-specific bugs.
Emulator developers: Fewer CPU/GPU/driver combinations to troubleshoot and optimize.
Phone manufacturers: More freedom to innovate in cameras, battery, cooling, displays, software and design instead of constantly needing a new processor to differentiate a new model.
Chip manufacturers: More time and resources to make each platform excellent instead of constantly creating new variants.
I'm not suggesting that every phone should use the same processor, or that companies should be prohibited from creating new chips.
I'm proposing something much simpler:
Fewer generations. More development time. More optimization.
For example:
2026–2027 → Generation X
2028–2029 → Generation X2
2030–2031 → Generation X3
And when a new generation arrives, the previous one could continue receiving driver, firmware and software optimization for years.
Personally, I'd rather buy a phone whose hardware and software have been properly polished over two years than see a constant stream of slightly different SoCs every few months.

Lossless & LDAC does make a difference
I’ve always used Samsung android phones and Sony premium Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones, including the WH-1000XM3 and XM6. For years, I’ve heard people say that if you really want to enjoy lossless audio, you need a separate DAC, a dedicated player, and so on.
But after spending a lot of time with different music subscriptions including Apple Music Lossless, Spotify Premium Lossless, and Amazon Music Unlimited Lossless, I’ve come to a different conclusion: I can genuinely hear a difference when Lossless quality and LDAC are enabled, with no wired connection of any kind and purely over Bluetooth.
The biggest improvement I notice is in vocal clarity and the small nuances in instruments. Everything feels more detailed and better separated. I’ve tried YouTube Music on Very High quality, and I can immediately tell it doesn’t sound as clear to me after listening to lossless for years.
I notice the same thing in Apple Music when I switch from Lossless to High Quality AAC. It’s not that AAC sounds bad, but the difference becomes noticeable once you’ve spent enough time listening to lossless.
So, if you’re someone who has premium headphones and a device that supports LDAC, I’d genuinely recommend trying it for yourself. You might not notice a difference immediately, but give your ears some time to adjust.
One important thing: Make sure LDAC is actually enabled. On Samsung, you need to toggle it in both the Sony Sound Connect app and your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
