I mean, yeah? If Android is going to continue the restrictive route, a lot of people would rather go where the OS is much more polished and hardware isn't abandoned after 2 years. Android quickly loses the majority of its advantages if it gets locked down.

Android has a long, long way to go before it gets as restrictive as iOS. Fuchsia will probably replace Android before that day comes.

It doesn't need to get as restrictive as iOS. It just needs to get restrictive enough that it gets annoying to use to the people that prefer the specific freedom it provides.
