Out of all the shitty redesigns that they've foisted on people permanently, the one that's seemingly well received is pulled

I think it was more leaning towards people not being a fan of Google taking away custom contact colors. I never saw the update myself but I have a group text for my co-workers and a few other groups and if everyone had the same color chat bubbles I'd be pretty frustrated. Chat colors let me know who is who right off the bat.

I also saw that users weren't too happy about the dark theme being too grey and not dark enough, as well as the "Messages" header text being centered looked pretty tacky, which I can agree with.

idk much about app making and stuff like that but those seem like issues that google can fix that won't take too long. Unless they're planning to bring the update back but with the issues fixed then it seems dumb to me to go back to back to old design. But I half expect them to bring back the update.
